Anchor text is where more gambling profiles go wrong than anywhere else. Push too many exact-match commercial anchors and you hand Google the clearest possible signal of manipulation. A safe casino anchor strategy is deliberately understated.
The anchor types
Every anchor falls into a few buckets, and the balance between them is what matters:
- Branded — your brand name (safest, should dominate)
- Naked URL — the raw link (very safe)
- Generic — 'click here', 'this site' (safe filler)
- Partial match — includes part of a keyword (use in moderation)
- Exact match — your money keyword (highest risk, use sparingly)
Why exact-match is dangerous in gambling
Because gambling is scrutinised so heavily, a high proportion of exact-match anchors pointing at a money page is a textbook manipulation signal. The links that are supposed to help you become the evidence against you.
A sensible starting ratio
There is no universal ratio, but a conservative gambling profile leans heavily on branded, URL and generic anchors, uses partial-match selectively, and keeps exact-match to a small minority. The right numbers depend on your existing profile — which is why we review it before recommending anchors.
Diversify across link types
Anchor strategy and link-type strategy work together. Use PBN links — where you control the anchor precisely — to shape ratios, and let guest posts and niche edits carry more natural, branded anchors.
